According to the Alliance for Water Efficiency, a pool leak of just an inch a day in an average-sized pool will lose over 8,000 gallons of water per month. This means that in just a 3-month pool season (and most of you use your pools for 5-6 months, but even in 3 months), the entire volume of an average-sized pool would have to be completely re-filled. That's a lot of water. That's a problem. But - and likely sooner versus later - the water loss is going to be the least of your problems.
That water leaking from your pool is going somewhere (generically). It's going under and around your pool...it's leeching into the ground (specifically). A pool must sit on solid ground. But, the ground is severely compromised and weakened when a pool leaks. Some examples are...
These problems are bad enough; what's worse, though, is that any of these problems can and too often will lead to major problems to the entire pool structure as well as the underground plumbing and/or the pool deck. And when these problems occur, the cost for their repairs will be more – perhaps significantly more – expensive than the initial cost would have been to locate and eliminate the leak.
I cannot even tell you how many pool owners have spent significant money on extensive and expensive repairs because they neglected their pool leak; all of them - literally all of them - would have paid significantly less money AND had less down-time had they just had the pool leak located and eliminated when it was first noticed.
Do not try to "get by" another year with a leaking pool.
Expert Pool Work, Inc. is industry-trained, experienced, and well-equipped for leak detection and repairs in Omaha and the surrounding areas. Being onsite, this gives us the opportunity to hear your explanation of the leak as well as perform some basic leak analysis and inspections. During this free visit, we will discuss the options for further leak detection (if needed) as well as the costs involved to perform various tests (some manual, some mechanical) to determine the source and location of the leak. Once detected, we can then submit a cost for the required repairs to eliminate that leak.

NOTE: If the underground plumbing pipes are the leak source and you ultimately decide to re-pipe the entire pool with all new pipes, then the size (diameter) of the plumbing pipes - as well as your pump and filter - should all be properly-sized and upgraded at this time; the plumbing schematics should also be changed, updated and upgraded to meet today's compliance for SAFE water movement (i.e. the velocity of water traveling to and through the plumbing). While various pool chemicals (such as your chosen sanitizer and shock as well as the water balancers) are certainly required to maintain water chemistry, proper circulation and filtration are the real solution to optimal water clarity. However, proper circulation and filtration can only be accomplished when the plumbing pipes, pump and filter are properly-sized to work together, based on the number of gallons of water in your pool. Upgrading to a properly-sized pump and filter as well as pipe sizes and schematics will easily be amongst the smartest money you will spend for your pool.
