The pool deck can be repaired or it can be replaced

The deck surrounds the pool. It is your seating area. It is your entertaining area. And it is the border between the pool and the backyard. If the deck has some minor issues, it can be repaired where needed. If the deck has some major issues, it can all be removed and replaced. Even if the deck is in good condition, if you desire a change, the deck can be removed and replaced. A pool deck can be poured concrete or it can be built with hardscape decking materials.

A concrete pool deck can be standard [gray] concrete, colored concrete, or colored and stamped concrete.

A hardscape pool deck can be built with bricks, pavers, stones, flagstones, or a combination of these hardscape decking materials.

Most pool decks, though, are poured concrete.

Deck Repairs

If the concrete deck is in good shape with exception of a few cracks, then repairs can be made. Concrete will crack…it will. These cracks can be routed, filled-in and sealed.

If the concrete deck is in good shape with the exception of a few spots that are settled or sunken, then just those sections can likely be lifted.

If the concrete deck is in good shape with the exception of a few spots that are severely cracked, settled, sunken, raised, deteriorating or otherwise defective, then just those compromised sections of the deck can be removed and replaced.

And if the concrete is in good shape, but it is old and dull, or if it was just repaired in certain areas, a decorative overlay can be applied over the entire concrete deck so it is uniform, revived and vibrant.

Deck Replacement

If a lot of – and certainly the majority of – the concrete deck is in bad shape, then it can be totally removed and replaced. This is often referred to as “tear-out and re-pour” of the concrete. The new concrete deck can be extended. You can never have too much concrete around a pool. And the new concrete deck can be re-poured as either standard [gray] concrete, colored concrete, or colored and stamped concrete. All new concrete around a pool should be sealed.

And, when the entire deck is going to be removed and replaced, it does not have to be replaced with concrete. It can also be replaced with hardscape decking materials, such as bricks, pavers, stones, flagstones, or a combination of these hardscape decking materials. Or it can also be replaced with a combination of concrete and various hardscape decking materials.

This is your chance

If you are removing and replacing your entire pool deck, this is the time to upgrade the plumbing schematics and pipe sizes. This would also be the time to upgrade the pump and filter. You can engineer your pool with properly-sized equipment, correct plumbing schematics and properly-sized plumbing pipes. Then you will better be able to keep your pool water clean and clear with less chemicals and better energy-efficiency. And your pool will be a much safer pool too.

We hope this helps.

We repair or replace pools decks.

If the damage to the deck is minimal for just a section or even a few sections, we can repair the existing deck. Prior to submitting a bid, we’d like to see the damaged section(s) of the deck. We offer free onsite consultation to discuss the job and take all measurements.

We also offer deck maintenance. This includes any caulk work. We can caulk the control joints in the deck. And we can also caulk the expansion joint, which is the gap (joint) between the coping and the deck.

If the damage to the deck is extensive – or if you just desire a new style – we can replace the deck. Prior to submitting a bid, we’d like to see the deck. We offer free onsite consultation to discuss the job, take all measurements, address drainage issues (if applicable), and discuss the various deck materials and options.
